Lyn Dunlap is an accredited dog behaviorist and trainer, specializing in positive reinforcement and clicker training in Mammoth Lakes.
Lyn has many years' experience as a trainer and is a graduate of the San Francisco Academy of Dog Trainers - the "Harvard" of dog training facilities.
Lyn is a firm believer in positive reinforcement training.
In her experience as a dog trainer, she’s found that dogs respond much more readily to being taught the correct behavior, rather than to being punished for not doing the right thing.
Learning is a change in behavior based on experience.
Lyn’s method is to make that experience a positive one.
It’s a kind, gentle and fast way to get the behavior you want from your dog.
Lyn often uses clicker training.
The clicker is a great tool to "mark" desirable behavior in dogs.
When using the clicker method of training the dog instantly knows when he’s done the wanted behavior and gets immediately rewarded for it.
The clicker is a great predictor of increased performance based on rewards and praise.
It is fun for both the dog and the trainer.
Lyn finds that some people are against training based on the reward system.
Generally they don’t understand that it’s the quickest, kindest and, therefore, the fastest way to train your dog.
Also, as the dog becomes more and more responsive in his behavior, food rewards are gradually replaced with praise.
It’s a win-win situation for your dog - and you!
Initially, training sessions are available in Mammoth Lakes on an individual basis, at the rate of $40/hour at times to be specified between trainer and owner.
